A developer and I facilitated discovery/ ideation sessions and created a responsive SaaS cell phone call management solution for prohibited cell phone calls within prisons. Included in the solution was a dashboard, call tracking and monitoring solution, and phone management database.

Our client was installing a system that would help reduce criminal activity within prisons by monitoring and tracking prohibited incoming cell phone calls from unknown parties and outgoing calls by inmates. They were gathering numerous data points and wanted to monitor, track and manage them in a meaningful way.

A developer and myself helped implement a responsive SaaS management system and analytics gathering solution for prohibited cell phone monitoring, tracking and management. Their equipment consisted of a series of towers placed strategically around the prison that would track various data points during cell phone usage within the perimeter. After deep discovery sessions, learning and understanding these numerous data points, we utilized information architecture to organize the data in a way they could gather deep insights and make strategic plans to reduce crime. We were able to define the most important data to surface on the interface, including a grid of their towers and their operational status, call monitoring, and unique device pairings. After we had a plan, we began to craft high fidelity prototypes utilizing existing brand standards to showcase a dashboard, call tracking, employee cell phone device management, and more. I worked closely with the developer to help realize the designs and developed with HTML, CSS, and jQuery. This project was implemented with great results exceeding the stakeholder's expectations; soon after they engaged our firm for more projects. We created a meaningful solution and took a bite outta crime along the way.
